GeologicAI is seeking a Regional Operations Manager to lead geological core scanning operations across Canada and the United States. Qualifications

What You’ll Do:

The Regional Operations Manager is accountable for safe, reliable, and efficient execution of our operations across North America. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will lead the operators who run geological core scanning at client mine sites in Canada and the United States, and you will own the people, equipment, and processes that turn those sites into consistent customer delivery.

Our core service is high-resolution scanning of geological drill core using purpose-built scanners. You will oversee the full scanning workflow, from equipment deployment and site setup through daily execution and data quality, at permanent facilities and at remote or client-managed locations.

Your workforce is a mix of direct employees and contractors, deployed across two countries and working largely out of your sight. Day-to-day leadership is exercised remotely, with periodic site visits and travel. Being effective at setting expectations, coaching, and holding people accountable without regular in-person contact, and holding contractors to the same standard as your own crew, is central to this role rather than a nice-to-have.

This is a build role as much as an operating one. Our processes, training systems, metrics, and organizational interfaces are still maturing, and you will help build them. What you establish in North America has a strong chance of becoming the global standard.

What We’ll Love About You:

You are a builder-operator: someone who can run today’s business while building the systems the next stage needs, without waiting for mature processes or clean organizational boundaries. You use KPIs, structured reviews, and root-cause problem solving to make work simpler and accountability clearer, not to add process.

Safety is your responsibility, not the H&S team’s, and you treat it as part of reliability, quality, and delivery rather than a separate program. You have run field work on both sides of the Canada-US border, so you know how the two environments actually differ. Much of our operator and supervisor group is early in their careers, and you are the kind of leader who builds their capability rather than becoming the permanent troubleshooter.

You are low-ego but decisive. You make the interfaces with Project Management, Fleet Performance, Engineering, and H&S work rather than letting boundaries slow execution. Mine-site and customer leadership take you seriously, and when you spot a growth opportunity you bring it to our BD team to act on.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• People leadership and team performance. Lead operators, supervisors, and regional support personnel across Canada and the United States, including both direct employees and contract crews. Set clear expectations, coach, give feedback, and run performance reviews that build a high-performance culture.
• Workforce planning. Own hiring, onboarding, on-the-job training, competency progression through structured certification, succession planning, and retention across the region.
• Daily operational execution. Own daily execution of core scanning operations, uptime, throughput, and field quality across all assigned sites in both countries.
• Safety leadership. Own safety as a line responsibility, in the field rather than through reports. Ensure compliance with safety standards, work instructions, SOPs, and operational readiness requirements, and with the employment, safety, and regulatory requirements that apply in each jurisdiction. Hold contractors to the same standard as direct employees.
• Issue escalation and resolution. Lead escalation and resolution of operational risks affecting delivery, productivity, or customer commitments, coordinating technical support across regional and Canadian-based resources.
• New deployments. Support commissioning, mobilization, and stabilization of new projects and scanner deployments across the region.
• Regional performance. Manage performance against KPIs for throughput, utilization, downtime, cost, and service quality, and report on regional performance, risks, and improvement priorities to senior leadership.
• Customer delivery. Partner with Project Managers to ensure customer commitments, turnaround times, and project outcomes are met. Act as a trusted operational contact for mining customers in both Canada and the US.
• Cross-functional leadership. Make the interfaces between Regional Operations, Project Management, and Fleet Performance work so that customer delivery, people leadership, and equipment reliability operate as one system.
• Financial performance. Support regional financial results through labour efficiency, cost control, resource planning, and capacity optimization.
• Growth support. Identify customer expansion opportunities and support business development in a coordinated way, with commercial ownership remaining with the BD group.
• Continuous improvement and standardization. Drive implementation of CMMS, training platforms, and operational controls that improve scale and consistency. Work with Technical Operations and Engineering to turn recurring issues into better standards and reliability.
• Process discipline. Champion consistent outcomes by managing inputs, methods, and feedback loops across the region.

Must Have Skills, Education, and Experience:

• Degree in Engineering, Operations, Mining, Geology, Business, or a related field. Equivalent operational leadership experience will be strongly considered.
• 8+ years of progressive leadership in field operations, industrial services, mining, energy, manufacturing, or a comparable environment.
• Field operations leadership experience in both Canada and the United States, with practical understanding of how the two operating environments differ.
• Proven leadership of a multi-site field workforce, including performance management, coaching, employee development, succession planning, and building frontline leaders.
• Experience leading a blended workforce of direct employees and contractors, and holding both to the same safety and performance standard.
• Demonstrated experience managing remote, dispersed field teams, with a proven ability to drive performance and accountability without in-person oversight.
• Strong, visible safety leadership, with working knowledge of Canadian provincial and US federal and state mine safety requirements.
• Demonstrated capability managing quality and safety outcomes in the field.
• Ability to manage operational performance using KPIs, structured reviews, root-cause problem solving, and continuous improvement practices, including uptime, throughput, and customer delivery in complex field operations.
• Regional resource leadership including cost control, resource planning, and operational KPI management.
• Experience implementing CMMS, SOPs, training systems, and continuous improvement programs.
• Strong stakeholder management across operations, project management, engineering, customers, and senior leadership.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada, and the ability to travel to the United States for business.

Assets:

• Existing relationships with US mining customers, particularly in Arizona and the US Southwest.
• Remote-site or fly-in operating experience.
• Lean, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous improvement training and practical application.
• Business development or account growth experience alongside operational leadership.
• Mining technology, field service, reliability, or regional scaling experience.
• P&L accountability.
• Bilingual English and French.

Travel Requirements:

• Expect roughly 30 to 40 percent travel, mostly to project and mine sites across Canada and the United States, varying with project activity and new deployments. Safety leadership here means field presence rather than management by report, so time on site is part of the job.
• Occasional international travel may be required.
