What is the opportunity?

As Manager, Field Sales Support, Western Canada, your role is critical in enabling RBC Wealth Management Financial Services Inc. (WMFS) sales support and field sales staff to deliver dedicated support to Estate Planning Specialists. You will lead, coach, develop, and enable a team of Estate Planning Assistants and Associates (i.e. financial security advisors), ensuring superior client care is delivered as well as a high standard of operational effectiveness. You are a subject matter expert, resource, and thought leader, effectively partnering within and outside of WMFS to positively impact the client and employee experience.


What will you do?

  • Handle talent acquisition needs and ensure stellar onboarding experiences for new hires
  • Identify and share best practices across the entire team to ensure operational effectiveness, and embrace and lead change when new initiatives are implemented
  • Assist staff with operational issues and provide appropriate escalation support for issues that require executive visibility
  • Support the development of each team member through focused coaching - motivating and empowering them to achieve individual and collective goals
  • Drive effective working relationships within the teams
  • Participate in the regular performance management cycle, working closely with the Estate Planning Specialists to understand staff performance, and manage low performance, as required, through coaching and effective leadership
  • Create an environment conducive to team success and employee engagement
  • Demonstrate commitment to active talent management, recruitment, and succession planning

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the insurance industry (sales & business development focused)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in a management role
  • Demonstrated people management capabilities with the ability to embrace and lead change, positively impacting the client and employee experience
  • Strong conflict resolution skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, strong organizational and time management skills, and meticulous attention to detail
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English
  • Valid LLQP license
  • Based in either Vancouver or Calgary and willing to travel on occasion

Nice-to-have

  • Post-secondary education
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation(s)
  • Proficient in French language
