Job Description

Position Overview

The Environmental and Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving the corporate EH&S program. This role involves leading, coaching, and managing the Health and Safety Coordinator and fostering collaboration across departments to ensure compliance with COR 2020 and applicable legislation.

This position supports Ply Gem Canada operations in Calgary and is fully on-site, with no remote work options.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the EH&S team and collaborate with management to lead safety initiatives.
• Promote a positive safety culture through process improvements and support across all plants.
• Provide expertise to manage occupational risks and foster a safety-conscious environment.
• Develop and improve EH&S policies, procedures, instructions, and training programs.
• Implement safety metrics and communication protocols to leadership.
• Conduct site reviews, define EH&S goals, and monitor progress.
• Investigate incidents, ensure corrective actions, and manage workers' compensation claims.
• Develop reporting tools to monitor safety performance and compliance.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and support compliance efforts, including external audits and COR 2020 certification.
• Coordinate with provincial authorities to address compliance issues.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial setting.
• Proven management experience in health and safety.
• Strong knowledge of relevant environmental and safety regulations.
• Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation is a strong asset.
• Additional certifications like NCSO are highly desirable.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged sitting and working on a computer.
• Ability to travel within facilities for safety inspections.
