Regional Credit & Collections Manager - 6 months contract

This position can be based out of Calgary or Edmonton.

Position Summary

It is both challenging and rewarding work. We are Team Convoy, a distributor of construction materials, supplying roofing, building envelope, and below-grade materials. We seek individuals with excellent people skills to join our team because, ultimately, people make all the difference.

The Regional Credit & Collections Manager oversees customer credit risk and advises on credit application procedures. The Manager supervises outstanding account balances and initiates appropriate actions to ensure the collection of slow-paying or high-volume accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze new credit applications, including credit investigations and limit recommendations.
  • Monitor and adjust credit limits for existing customers as needed.
  • Authorize credit grants up to $150K without further approval.
  • Collaborate with senior staff to determine when additional security is required to mitigate risk and gather security as directed.
  • Decide when to place customers on credit hold.
  • Review orders that fail credit validation to determine if they can be released.
  • Make collection calls to follow up on past-due or over-limit accounts.
  • Work closely with the Cash Receipts department to process payments accurately and communicate payment options to customers.
  • Meet company and department goals to maintain a high level of success in the portfolio.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to internal and external clients.
  • Communicate regularly with internal partners to resolve disputes and address account concerns.
  • Complete account reconciliations as needed.
  • Prepare monthly aging and concern reports within established timelines.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in a credit granting role, preferably in the building construction sector.
  • College certificate or diploma in a business-related field (Finance, Accounting, Administration) is preferred.
  • Strong negotiating skills for collecting overdue accounts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop and nurture internal and external customer relationships.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-volume environment.
  • Willingness to work out of the local Convoy branch if needed.
