Job summary

The Jewish Federation of Winnipeg seeks a proactive Regional Security Director to lead our province-wide security program, safeguarding community staff, volunteers, facilities, and events.   • 5+ years of senior-level security experience securing global Jewish communities and institutions.
  • Proven ability to build and lead teams, recruit and manage a large volunteer network.
  • Familiarity with Jewish community institutions such as synagogues, JCCs, camps, and schools.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities; track record of leading initiatives.
  • Self-starter who can manage complex change end-to-end.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with project management and decision-making in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels; discretion with sensitive information.

Regional Security Director – Manitoba and Saskatchewan

Job Overview:

The Jewish Federation is seeking a proactive and dedicated Regional Security Director to lead the community’s comprehensive security program. This role involves safeguarding the safety and well-being of the community, its staff, volunteers, and facilities, ensuring a secure environment for all who participate in our events and programs. The Regional Director will be responsible for assessing risks, developing, and implementing security protocols, recruiting, and training a volunteer cohort, and leading emergency response efforts, while fostering strong relationships with local law enforcement and security agencies.

Duties (Include, but are not limited to):
  • Implement comprehensive security strategies to address emerging threats and mitigate risks facing the Jewish community.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, and stakeholders to advance the community security objectives and initiatives.
  • Support Federation in fundraising efforts for security initiatives.
  • Build working relationships with other security organizations on the national and international level.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with Jewish communal organizations, synagogues, summer camps, schools, and other relevant stakeholders to promote collaboration and information sharing across the province.
  • Serve as a liaison between the security program and local law enforcement agencies and security professionals to coordinate security efforts and response protocols.
  • Organize community outreach events, training sessions, and educational programs to raise awareness about security issues and empower community members to play an active role in safeguarding their institutions and neighborhoods.
  • Recruit, train and maintain security volunteers to assist Jewish organizations in securing their premises.
  • Conduct robust security assessments of community institutions and manage the implementation of recommendations to improve physical infrastructure.
  • Develop emergency protocols for community institutions and conduct emergency drills
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Strong community orientation
  • 5+ years of senior-level security experience securing global Jewish communities and institutions
  • Proven ability to build and lead teams including experience with recruiting, developing talent, and managing a large security volunteer network
  • Familiarity with the rhythm of Jewish community institutions including synagogues, JCCs, day and overnight summer camps, Jewish day schools
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities; proven success leading strategic initiatives
  • A self-starter able to leverage his/her knowledge, skill, and experience to manage complex change from start to finish
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with project management
  • Ability to problem-solve, think strategically, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Must apply judgment and discretion in the handling of sensitive and confidential documentation
