Position Summary :

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Regional Baking Technology and Commercialization Manager to join our team in Quebec. In this role, you will provide expert baking knowledge, technical leadership, and operational support throughout the region—and occasionally in Atlantic Canada and Ontario, depending on the scale and scope of initiatives. The ideal candidate is a food scientist with extensive bakery experience and a strong passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and team development. This position plays a pivotal role in developing and commercializing new products, while also ensuring consistent product quality and operational excellence across our baking operations.

Key Responsibilities :

Technical Expertise & Support

  • Provide on-site and remote technical baking guidance to plants and production teams across the region.
  • Troubleshoot product or process issues related to quality, consistency, or efficiency.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for bread, buns, sweet goods, and specialty baked items.

Product Quality & Standards

  • Ensure adherence to company quality standards, product specifications, and SOPs.
  • Conduct line audits, product reviews, and baking tests to ensure optimal output.
  • Support the implementation of corrective actions when deviations are identified.

Training & Development

  • Coach and mentor bakery operations teams on best practices in baking processes, formulation, proofing, and oven operations.
  • Design and lead technical baking workshops and training initiatives for plant teams.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Operations, and QA teams to optimize baking parameters, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
  • Support and execute product launches, reformulations, and scale-up initiatives at the plant level.
  • Evaluate and introduce new technologies, ingredients, or methods to improve baking outcomes.
  • Serve as the regional liaison between corporate bakery leadership and local plant teams.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (ie. Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain) to drive aligned goals.
  • Support the execution of strategic technical initiatives and company-wide baking standards.

Experience & Education :

  • Bilingual (French & English) is required
  • Food Scientist with strong bakery technical knowledge
  • Minimum 7–10 years in commercial baking or industrial food manufacturing, with leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of bakery processes : mixing, proofing, fermentation, baking, cooling, etc.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (ie. Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence across multiple levels
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly across the region
