ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald is currently seeking an experienced Service Refrigeration Technician to join our Service Division in Estevan, SK. If you are a hands-on, customer service-oriented, and technically inclined professional looking to build a solid career foundation, this position is for you. The Refrigeration Technician will report directly to the Service Supervisor.

We’re seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician with expertise in various refrigeration systems, capable of troubleshooting and repairs. If you’re a self-starter with a positive attitude committed to excellent customer service, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Maintain and service customers’ refrigeration systems.
• Inspect system components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, fan motors, fans, and expansion valves.
• Inspect tubing, connections, valves, and pumps.
• Replace seals, gaskets, and bushings.
• Reassemble system components including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and pumps.
• Perform installation, servicing, repairs, and parts replacement on commercial refrigeration systems; participate in preventative maintenance and minor calibrations.
• Conduct system checks, troubleshooting, and refrigerant recovery.
• Troubleshoot electrical and gas systems.
• Maintain detailed records, including service logs, refrigerant recovery reports, and service records.
• Research and resolve complex system issues.
• Complete all required paperwork and forms.
• Conduct safety inspections, ensuring proper PPE use and adherence to safety regulations.
• Install various refrigeration and HVAC equipment.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous refrigeration technician experience
• HVAC certification
• Brazing and soldering skills
• Knowledge of local building codes
• Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics
• Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment
