Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyperson Red Seal Refrigeration Mechanic to join our Engineering team at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. The technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems throughout the property. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, a commitment to safety and compliance, and the flexibility to work various shifts as needed.

Position Type: Permanent

Rate of Pay: $40.68/hour

Start Date: May 2025

Responsibilities include:

  1. Installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, including walk-in refrigerators, VRF systems, heat pumps, central A/C, and ice machines.
  2. Troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
  3. Performing routine and preventative maintenance.
  4. Handling refrigerant management in compliance with environmental regulations.
  5. Maintaining accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
  6. Ensuring work meets safety standards and codes.
  7. Training and supporting colleagues.
  8. Collaborating with departments to minimize operational disruptions.
  9. Communicating professionally with guests and colleagues.
  10. Operating hotel vehicles safely.

Qualifications:

  1. Valid Red Seal Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic certification.
  2. Minimum 5 years experience in commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  3. Proficient in technical diagrams and schematics.
  4. Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles and control systems.
  5. Knowledge of refrigerant handling and environmental laws.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  7. Valid Alberta driver’s license with a clear abstract.
  8. Alberta Gas Fitter ticket is an asset.
