Job summary

NSCC Sydney Waterfront Campus seeks an experienced faculty member to teach Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Building Systems Technician education. The role entails designing and delivering engaging instruction, assessing students, and maintaining safety in labs and shops.

Candidates should have a Red Seal or Inter-provincial journeyperson status in ACR with extensive related experience, and be prepared for varied delivery modalities and schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum educational qualification: Red Seal Journeyperson certification in Refrigeration Mechanical Technician or Inter-provincial Journeyperson status in ACR.
• A Refrigeration Plant Operator certification would be considered an asset.
• Minimum five years of related occupational experience in air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide theoretical and practical instruction in the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic apprenticeship and core programs.
• Collaboratively design and deliver educational experiences for a diverse group of learners.
• Prepare, instruct, assess and evaluate students using a range of teaching practices and technologies (e.g., Brightspace).
• Ensure health and safety practices are followed in classroom, shops, and labs.
• Adapt delivery modalities (in-class, online, blended) and working hours, including weekends/evenings.
• Engage in academic and career advisement, committee participation, program marketing, and curriculum development.
