About Jewellery & Industrial Metals

A wealth of applications. Umicore is an expert in developing products and processes based on precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. These materials enable our customers to make fine jewellery, coins, high-purity glass and industrial catalysts. Umicore also enables the sustainable and responsible sourcing of these metals and provides closed-loop recycling for our customers. To make the most of these materials we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new processes. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

1. Receiving of all precious metal refining lots from production and external customers.
2. Sorting all lots to accurately weigh and verify customer request and instructions if supplied with lot.
3. Take photos of lots for verification and enter appropriate information in computer.
4. Label and prepare lots for processing by melter or sweeps operators.
5. Receive lots returned from melt room and record all information (after melt weight, melt loss, slag and assay sample).
6. Submit samples to assay lab.
7. Preparing lots for disposal to outside sources.
8. Maintain housekeeping as per standard.
9. Equipment used includes scales, camera, computer, using drill press and operating X-ray equipment.
10. Lifting 20kg bars on a regular basis.
11. Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow all health and safety and environmental rules.
12. Other duties as assigned.
13. Commit to upholding, respecting and ensuring compliance with the health and safety standards established by the company’s guidelines.
14. Actively promote a culture of care by collaborating on preventive measures and continuous improvement actions related to health and safety activities.

Who we are looking for

• Melting experience an asset
• Able to read micrometers, calipers and some testing equipment
• Able to do heavy lifting (up to 50lbs)
• Communication and organizational skills required
• Strong mechanical aptitude
