About Jewellery & Industrial Metals

A wealth of applications. Umicore is an expert in developing products and processes based on precious metals such as gold, silver and platinum. These materials enable our customers to make fine jewellery, coins, high-purity glass and industrial catalysts. Umicore also enables the sustainable and responsible sourcing of these metals and provides closed-loop recycling for our customers. To make the most of these materials we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new processes. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

Receiving all precious metal refining lots from production and external customers.

Sorting lots to accurately weigh and verify customer request and instructions if supplied with lot.

Take photos of lots for verification and enter appropriate information in computer.

Label and prepare lots for processing to the appropriate department.

Receive lots returned from melt room and record all information (after melt weight, melt loss, slag and assay sample).

Submit samples to assay lab.

Preparing lots for disposal to outside sources.

Maintain housekeeping as per standard.

Equipment used includes scales, camera, computer, using drill press and operating X-ray equipment.

Lifting 20kg bars on a regular bases.

Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow all health and safety and environmental rules.

Other duties as assigned.
