Job summary

Fraser Valley Fire Protection Ltd is seeking a Journeyperson Sprinkler Fitter to join our Abbotsford, BC team. You will inspect, test, and maintain sprinkler systems, diagnose and repair deficiencies, and perform small retrofits in commercial, residential, and industrial sites.

You will also write inspection reports, explain findings to owners, and mentor apprentices while adhering to safety guidelines on site. A valid BC driver’s license and Red Seal certification are required.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Journeyperson Sprinklerfitter certification required.
• Valid BC driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
• Ability to work alone, at heights, and in occupied buildings.
• Good judgment on prioritizing urgent deficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance on sprinkler systems.
• Diagnose and repair deficiencies: leaks, corroded pipe, failed heads, air compressors, dry valves, alarm and supervisory devices.
• Test backflow assemblies, fire pumps, and standpipe systems where certified.
• Complete small retrofits, tenant improvements, head relocations, and system modifications.
• Write accurate inspection reports and deficiency lists for quotes and scheduling.
• Explain findings to building owners and property managers in plain language.
• Maintain vehicle, tools, and paperwork; follow safety programs and site plans.
• Mentor apprentices working with you.
• Other duties as assigned.

Join us as we celebrate fifty years! Fraser Valley Fire Protection is based in Abbotsford, serving customers from Hope to Whistler in commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial buildings.

What you'll do

• Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance on sprinkler systems.
• Diagnose and repair deficiencies: leaks, corroded pipe, failed heads, air compressors, dry valves, alarm and supervisory devices
• Test backflow assemblies, fire pumps, and standpipe systems where certified
• Complete small retrofits, tenant improvements, head relocations, and system modifications
• Write accurate inspection reports and deficiency lists so the office can quote and schedule the repair work quickly
• Explain findings to building owners and property managers in plain language
• Keep your van stocked, your tools in safe working order, and your paperwork current
• Work safely under FVFP's safety program, WorkSafeBC requirements, and site-specific plans
• Mentor apprentices working with you
• Other duties as assigned

What you need
