Job description

Job Summary

The Plumber and Pipefitter is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in new constructions or renovations, ensuring compliance with federal and company regulations.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Perform job planning and hazard assessments prior to starting work to ensure safety.
  2. Communicate with other departments regarding updates and schedules for repair work.
  3. Layout and perform maintenance on plumbing fixtures, heating, and cooling units.
  4. Prepare reports and work procedures including inspection and recording data such as back flow preventers, fire prevention equipment, and environmental issues.
  5. Read and interpret drawings and sketches for repairs and estimate material costs.
  6. Recommend preventive maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Working Conditions
  • Work away from home for extended periods.
  • Be available on call 24/7 for critical incidents.
  • Assist other trade employees physically as required.
  • Work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Perform outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • Work overtime as necessary.
Requirements
  • Experience in fabrication, installation, repairs, and maintenance of water, sewer, gas, and air lines.
  • Valid provincial Driver’s Licence.
  • Valid Red Seal Ticket for plumber and pipefitter, available upon request.
  • Ability to qualify for CROR Engineering rules card and First Aid training.
  • Certifications in Fall Arrest, Confined Space Entry, SCBA, and aerial platforms.
  • Valid Provincial Trade Ticket.
  • Compliance with CN Rail safety rules and regulations.
  • Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely under pressure during emergency repairs.
  • Physically fit to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and SAP systems.
  • Knowledge of Standard Plans and SPCs.
Training

The Plumber and Pipefitter must complete all required training sessions as directed by the company. Successful completion is essential for performing duties effectively.
