Job description

Job Summary

The Plumber and Pipefitter is responsible for plumbing work on new construction or renovations, adhering to federal and company regulations.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Perform job planning and hazard assessments prior to all jobs to ensure safety.
  2. Communicate updates and schedules with other departments regarding repair work.
  3. Layout and perform maintenance of plumbing fixtures, heating, and cooling units.
  4. Prepare and submit reports and detailed work procedures, including inspection and recording data (e.g., back flow preventers, fire prevention equipment, environmental issues).
  5. Read and understand detailed drawings and sketches for repair work and prepare material costs.
  6. Recommend preventive maintenance programs for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Working Conditions
  1. Work away from home for extended periods.
  2. Be available on call 24/7 for critical incidents.
  3. Assist other trade employees physically as required.
  4. Work in confined spaces and at heights.
  5. Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  6. Work overtime when necessary.
Requirements
  1. Experience in fabrication, installation, repairs, and maintenance of structures, including underground lines for water, sewer, gas, air, etc.
  2. Valid provincial Driver’s Licence.
  3. Valid plumber and pipefitter Red Seal Ticket, available upon request.
  4. Qualify for CROR Engineering rules card and First Aid training.
  5. Certifications in Fall Arrest, Confined Space Entry, SCBA, aerial platforms.
  6. Valid Provincial Trade Ticket.
  7. Compliance with CN Rail rules and safety regulations.
  8. Strong planning, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to work safely under pressure during emergency repairs.
  10. Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lb.
  11. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and SAP.
  12. Knowledge of Standard Plans and SPCs.
Training

The Plumber and Pipefitter must complete all company-directed training sessions, which are essential for performing duties effectively.

This is a unionized position. Pay and benefits are governed by the applicable collective agreement.
