Job summary

Emmerson Packaging in Amherst, Nova Scotia, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help maintain, service, and modify all plant machinery. The company values craftsmanship, safety, and teamwork in a third-generation, family-owned environment.

You will fabricate and repair equipment, operate power tools, document changes, and communicate maintenance needs. A Red Seal certification or enrollment is preferred, with competitive wages and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Red Seal Industrial Mechanical certification preferred.
• Enrolled in Red Seal Apprenticeship considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assists with fabricating and repairing plant equipment.
• Operates power tools as part of maintenance tasks.
• Documents changes and repairs; updates manuals and records.
• Communicates daily maintenance concerns to supervisor.
• Recommends process improvements for efficiency and safety.
• Maintains tools and keeps the work area clean and organized.
• Follows Lockout procedures and participates in on-call duties.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technicianassists with maintaining, servicing, and modifying all machinery in the plant.

JOB TASKS :

• Assists with fabricating and repairing equipment in the plant
• Operates power tools
• Documents changes and repairs made to machinery and circuits; updates manuals
• Communicates daily maintenance concerns to the supervisor (transfer of information from shift to shift)
• Recommends changes for improved processes
• Maintains assigned tools and instruments in good working order
• Maintains a clean and tidy work area; participates in weekly scheduled shop cleanup
• Follows and promotes Lockout procedures
• Performs on-call duties as assigned

COMPETENCIES:

• Must have superior mechanical aptitude
• Must have strong organizational and time-management skills
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Must have proven ability to interact well with others
• Must have demonstrated ability to read blueprints
• Must have ability and willingness to work scheduled shifts
• Must have ability to lift items of 40 lbs and perform duties involving repetitive stretching motions, stair/ladder climbing, and standing

REQUIRMENTS :

• High School diploma, or equivalent
• Red Seal Industrial Mechanical certification
• OR Currently Enrolled in the Red Seal Industrial Mechanic Apprenticeship Program
