The company specializes in bridge rental & construction, piling, matting, culverts and GC services for a wide range of clients, including government ministries and organizations in the oil field, forestry, hydro, and coal industries.

Fully bonded and insured, Great Northern Bridgeworks focuses on delivering work safely, efficiently, and with strong environmental consideration.

Services include bridge design and installation, inspections, pile driving, in-stream work, lease reclamation, road design and construction, culverts, foundations, and environmental remediation.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mechanic role located in Chetwynd, BC. The Mechanic will perform routine and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment and vehicles used in bridge and road construction projects.

Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical issues, troubleshooting equipment problems, completing repairs, and ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently.

The role involves maintaining detailed service records, coordinating with supervisors and operators on equipment needs, and adhering to company safety and environmental standards.

The Mechanic may also support field operations by performing on-site repairs and assisting with equipment setup and inspections.

Qualifications
  • Strong maintenance skills, including Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair, with the ability to service a variety of construction equipment.
  • Experience with Preventive Maintenance practices to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment commonly used in bridge and road construction.
  • Effective Troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve mechanical and hydraulic issues.
  • Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or Automotive Service Technician is an asset.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices in construction and industrial environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
  • Capability to work in outdoor and challenging site conditions, with a focus on reliability and teamwork.
