Job summary

SARCAN Recycling is seeking a Casual Recycling Technician in Eston, SK to support daily depot operations and customer service. The role involves greeting customers, counting containers for deposits, sorting and preparing loads, and keeping the depot clean and safe.

The position requires basic reading, numeracy, and computer skills, plus the ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for long periods. A criminal record check is required; accommodation is available upon request.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing, and numeracy skills.

• Ability to focus on own work, including counting and recording containers.
• Ability to follow instructions and ensure tasks are completed in appropriate sequence.
• Ability to communicate with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
• Be dependable and a team-player.
• Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and field inquiries about accepted materials and deposits.
• Count containers and record orders for deposit refunds.
• Prepare containers for transport, including sorting, crushing and loading onto trailers.
• Perform general cleaning and upkeep of the depot building and yard.
• Perform physical, repetitive tasks and stand for long periods.
• Operate the point-of-sale system when needed.
• Be the recycling expert among family and friends.
• May cover Depot Supervisor duties in their absence.

The life of a SARCAN Recycling Technician:

Each and every SARCAN team member is an important part of our team and our community. As a Recycling Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Greeting customers and fielding general inquiries about accepted materials, deposit amounts, and container sizes.
• Counting containers and recording orders for deposit refund
• Preparing containers for transport, which may include sorting, crushing, and loading product onto trailers
• Performing general cleaning and upkeep of the depot building and yard
• Performing physical work, repetitive tasks, and standing for long periods of time
• Operating point-of-sale system, if needed
• Becoming the biggest recycling expert among all of your family and friends!
• The Casual Recycling Technician may assume the duties of the Depot Supervisor in their absence and will be trained in the entire operation of the depot.
