Emterra operates four of the larger MetroVancouver Recycling and Waste Centres that are located throughout the LowerMainland. These facilities receive largevolumes of waste that are consolidated and shipped to various destinations inwestern North America. In addition, each facility contains comprehensiverecycling depots that divert materials away from disposal and into the greeneconomy.
The Recycling and Waste Centres areopen 363 days per year. Applicants must be willing and able to work four-dayrotating shifts (i.e. four days working and four days off).
The Recycling and Waste Centre Supervisor isresponsible for supervising a team of Equipment Operators, Recyclers, GeneralLaborers, and subcontractors who contribute to the daily operations of eachdepartment of the recycling, transfer, and disposal operation.
Whatwill you do?
ØSupervise, coordinate and schedulethe activities of staff in accordance with the terms of the collectiveagreement in place;
ØAssume a lead role in all aspects ofsafety on the site including providing site orientations, chairing crew safetymeetings, conducting tailgate meetings, and leading incident investigations;
ØHire, coach, and apply progressive discipline(if necessary) of staff in accordance with Company policies and within theterms of the collective agreement in place;
ØUnder the direction of the SiteManager, ensure that the Recycling and Waste Centre meets all requirements fromMetro Vancouver, regulatory bodies and Company expectations;
ØEnsure outbound garbage andrecyclable materials meet disposal/recycle facility specifications;
ØCoordinate with the maintenance teamto ensure preventative maintenance is performed on schedule on mobile andstationary equipment so that downtime is minimized;
ØMonitor and manage onsiteinventories of all materials to ensure compliance with contractual andregulatory requirements;
ØEnsure detailed coordination andcommunication with other shift supervisors;
ØPrepare production, inventory andother reports as necessary;
ØTrain personnel on operations,specifications for outbound materials and safety procedures;
ØProvide recommendations to improve production,service levels and safety;
ØPerform other duties as assigned.
