Job DetailsThis is a contract position - with a possibility of extension.The Recruitment Consultant plays a vital role in attracting and hiring top talent to support student success across the DDSB. The Recruitment Consultant is responsible for coordinating and executing end-to-end recruitment processes for a wide range of roles-including teaching, support staff, administrative, and occasional positions-while ensuring compliance with collective agreements, legislative requirements, and the board's commitments to equitable recruitment practices.
Key Responsibilities:Recruitment Strategy and Planning- Collaborate with school and departmental leadership to identify current and anticipated staffing needs.
- Develop and implement proactive recruitment strategies to attract high-quality candidates across various employment groups.
- Analyze recruitment trends and provide recommendations for continuous improvement, including outreach to underrepresented communities.
Job Posting and Candidate Sourcing- Draft and post job advertisements in alignment with board standards and applicable collective agreements.
- Source candidates through job boards, social media, professional networks, and career fairs.
- Build and maintain talent pools for high-need and hard-to-fill positions.
Screening and Selection- Screen and assess applications in accordance with board policies and union agreements.
- Coordinate interview schedules and participate in interview panels as required.
- Provide support and training to hiring managers on inclusive and legally compliant selection practices.
- Conduct reference checks and employment verifications.
Offer and Onboarding- Prepare offer documentation and ensure timely communication with selected candidates.
- Support new hire onboarding processes, including credential verification, and compliance with applicable legislation and board policies.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth onboarding and integration of new employees.
Occasional Staff Recruitment and Supply List Management- Lead the recruitment and onboarding of occasional/supply staff for a variety of roles, including teachers, educational assistants, early childhood educators, clerical, custodial, and other casual positions.
- Monitor and manage the active supply list to ensure sufficient staffing levels are maintained throughout the school year.
- Regularly review list activity to understand gaps and adjust recruitment efforts accordingly.
Compliance and Record-Keeping- Ensure recruitment activities comply with relevant legislation, including the Education Act, Human Rights Code, and AODA.
- Interpret and apply collective agreement language during all phases of the hiring process.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in applicant tracking systems and HRIS platforms.
- Track metrics related to recruitment timelines, fill rates, and supply staff utilization.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication- Build relationships with internal stakeholders, including principals, supervisors, union representatives, and hiring managers.
- Participate in job fairs, community events, and post-secondary partnerships to promote the school board as an employer of choice.
- Communicate effectively with applicants and employees, providing timely updates and feedback throughout the hiring process.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion- Champion equitable hiring practices that are inclusive of race, gender, disability, language, and other identity factors.
- Support efforts to remove barriers to employment for historically marginalized and underrepresented groups.
- Contribute to internal projects and training related to anti-racism, accessibility, and inclusive recruitment.
- Ensure that hiring practices reflect the diversity of the community and student population.
Qualifications and skills:- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of recruitment experience. Experience working with various positions in large numbers would be an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant employment legislation and collective agreement processes.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience using applicant tracking systems and HR information systems.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace.
- Standard office hours with occasional travel to schools, job fairs, and outreach events.
- May involve occasional evening or weekend recruitment events.
