Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Director, Recruitment & Admissions, the Recruitment & Admissions Coordinator is responsible for implementing annual and multi-year strategic recruitment plans for OISE, ensuring the Faculty has an innovative, cost effective and strategic approach to recruitment. The incumbent will assist in the recruiting, admissions and retention of students with a focus on equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and will participate in the development and execution of strategies related to the success of all students inOISE. All strategies will be informed by best practices, student feedback as well as analysis of surveys and other assessment tools that obtain feedback from diverse students to optimize student performance and retention within the Faculty.
Theincumbent will be responsible for improving, monitoring and promoting Indigenous, racialized, Black, immigrant and international student success within OISE as this success is predicated on effective recruitment and admissions. They will be responsible for presentations and seminar facilitation on recruitment and admissions especially created for diverse students. There will be a strong emphasis on assisting in the planning and delivery of diverse student recruitment activities and admissions practices, where the incumbent will advise the student coordinators, staff and leaders to ensure that OISE provides recruitment, admissions, promotional materials and outreach that is safe, inclusive and welcoming.
This position will be responsible for identifying and organizing recruiting and networking events to reshape the Indigenous, racialized, Black, immigrant and international student population at OISE and ensures all positions dealing with students have appropriate training to recognize students indistress and provide appropriate referrals.
The Recruitment & Admissions Coordinator conducts academic assessments of applications for admission to graduate programs based on a primary deadline plus a ‘rolling’ admissions schedule.The incumbent is responsible for the efficient processing of applications with regard to receipt, compilation and routing of both applications and supporting documentation. The incumbent determines, if necessary, in consultation with the Admissions Assistant Registrar or Admissions Associate Registrar, appropriate conditions of admission on the basis of knowledge of OISE and School of Graduate Studies guidelines, procedures and regulations. The incumbent produces and verifies Offers of Admission, Notifications of Refusal and other official admission correspondence. The incumbent liaises with departmental faculty and staff, as well as School of Graduate Studies, general University staff and outside contacts as is required.
The incumbent serves as a primary point of contact for applicants and future applicants, providing information and advice on matters relating to admission policies and procedures, information on the variety of programs offered, admission requirements, application processes, deferrals, and other matters. The incumbent supports applicants who need assistance submitting documents in support of their application and making changes to their application. The incumbent supports incoming students in the period between acceptance and program start-up in areas that include police checks, satisfying conditions, paying deposits and connecting incoming students to other supports and services in OISE and the University. The incumbent hires and supervises work study students for the admissions team.
