Job summary

Metro is seeking a Recruiter in Ontario to support high-volume recruitment for Distribution Centres and stores. You will attract, engage, and hire for operational and frontline roles, focusing initially on our DCs.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in HR, business, or related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in Talent Acquisition or HR.
  • Experience recruiting in high-volume environments (retail, distribution, logistics, operations).
  • Experience managing multiple requisitions and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, job boards, SuccessFactors, or other applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and results-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-volume recruitment activities for Distribution Centre and store roles.
  • Partner with operational leaders to understand workforce needs and develop recruitment strategies.
  • Source, screen, and assess candidates via resumes, phone interviews, assessments, and interviews.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines to support ongoing staffing and future hiring needs.
  • Organize and participate in hiring events, job fairs, and recruitment campaigns.
  • Manage postings, interview scheduling, reference checks, and offer coordination.
  • Promote Metro as an employer of choice through candidate engagement and community partnerships.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics and workforce trends to support hiring goals.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience and compliance with employment laws and policies.
  • Support talent acquisition projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

The typical salary range for this position is $54 480.00 - $74 910.00 annually. The base salary offered will be determined based on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity considerations.

At Metro, our stores and Distribution Centres rely on great people to deliver exceptional service to our customers every day. As a Recruiter, you will play a key role in supporting high-volume recruitment efforts to our Distribution Centres (DCs) & stores, by attracting, engaging, and hiring top talent for operational and frontline positions.
This position will primarily focus on our Distribution Centres to start with.

Specifics Responsibilities
  • Lead high-volume recruitment activities for our Distribution Centre positions.
  • Partner with operational leaders to understand workforce needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Source, screen, and assess candidates through resume reviews, phone interviews, assessments, and interviews.
  • Build and maintain talent pipelines to support ongoing staffing requirements and future hiring needs.
  • Organize and participate in hiring events, job fairs, open houses, community outreach initiatives, and recruitment campaigns.
  • Manage recruitment activities including job postings, interview scheduling, reference checks, candidate communications, and offer coordination.
  • Promote Metro as an employer of choice through candidate engagement and community partnerships.
  • Monitor recruitment metrics and workforce trends to support hiring goals and operational needs.
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience while maintaining compliance with applicable employment legislation and company policies.
  • Support talent acquisition projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, Recruitment, or Human Resources.
  • Experience recruiting in a high-volume environment such as retail, distribution, logistics, customer service, or operations.
  • Experience managing multiple requisitions and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn, job boards, SuccessFactors, or other applicant tracking systems.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
