Job summary

CMHA Durham is seeking a Recreation Therapist to support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of clients within the HART Hub. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.

With a Bachelor’s in Recreational Therapy and a minimum of one year related experience, you will assess leisure interests, develop individualized plans, and monitor outcomes while adhering to Ontario standards and CMHA Durham

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreational Therapy and a minimum of one year related experience.
  • Active membership to a relevant association is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, Ontario ACTT Standards, and related Ontario legislation.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills and ability to present information to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, community and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of a high performance, multi-service team within the HART Hub program.
  • Conducts assessments and prepares individualized supportive client care plans to promote stability and growth.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate and revise treatment goal plans with clients and team.
  • Ensure clients understand services and expectations related to the RT role.
  • Provide services in a respectful, individualized, supportive manner; promote healthy living standards.
