Job summary

The Town of Oakville is seeking a drop-in program monitor within the Recreation and Culture department to assist with supervision of day-to-day drop-in programs. You will help with setup, monitor safety, track attendance and payment, and provide excellent customer service to participants.

Requirements include skating ability, strong communication, and knowledge of Oakville drop-in programs. A basic First Aid with CPR-C & AED or intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED is required, and a

Qualifications

• Ability to skate at a high level (no equipment).
• Strong communication skills to deal effectively with staff and public.
• Exceptional Customer Service skills.
• Motivated individual who has a passion and knowledge in program activity.
• Knowledge of Town of Oakville drop-in programs is considered an asset.
• Basic First Aid with CPR-C & AED or Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C & AED.

Responsibilities

• Arrive at the program site in time to properly prepare for the day’s program and start and end the program according to schedule.
• Ensure the continuing safety of all participants while at the program.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and proof of payment from each program participant.
• Create and enforce a positive and respectful environment for those participating.
• Assist with daily set up/clean-up of the program site.
• Provide exceptional customer service including assistance for any customers that have questions regarding Town of Oakville programs.
• Apply safety precautions and procedures in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Town of Oakville policies.
• Notify the supervisor of any problems and/or recommendations regarding participants which may affect the quality of the program.
• Attend and participate in all staff training sessions.
