Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a motivated Recreation Coordinator in Kelowna to facilitate group activities for seniors, especially those with dementia. The successful candidate will plan and deliver engaging programs while working with volunteers. A diploma in recreation and experience with seniors are essential, along with current First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Experience with seniors with moderate to severe dementia.
• Current First Aid and Food Safe – Level I certificates.
• A Class 4 driver’s license is an asset.

Job description

What you’ll do:

• Facilitate group activities for residents with differing abilities, interests, needs and preferences
• Deliver an array of planned and spontaneous social, recreational and therapeutic programs
• In collaboration with management, provide direction, support and assistance to volunteers during activity programs and familiarizes volunteers with related activity techniques
• Pay keen attention to changes in resident functional ability, interest, participation, mood and ability to accomplish tasks

What you’ll need:

• Certificate or Diploma from a recognized Recreation program or equivalent education and experience with seniors
• Current First Aid and Food Safe – Level I certificates required
• Experience working with seniors with moderate to severe dementia
• A Class 4 driver’s license would be an asset

Wage Levelling Salary: $28.95 per hour
