The pay rate for Recreation Therapy Worker is $29.83 per hour. These positions are part of the Facilities Bargaining Association and Hospital Employees Union.

Your Role: As a Recreation Therapy Worker at Interior Health, your role is pivotal in enhancing the lives of our residents through the implementation of engaging and therapeutic recreation programs. Working within a client-centered model and as an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, you contribute significantly to the overall health and happiness of those in our care.

In this dynamic position, your responsibilities include:

  1. Executing established individual and group leisure/recreation therapy programs, spanning arts, socio-cultural events, crafts, sports, music, cooking, gardening, and exercises.
  2. Setting up and organizing furnishings and equipment for programs and special events to create a safe and enjoyable environment.
  3. Actively participating with clients during outings, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  4. Providing guidance and imparting techniques related to the programs to residents, fostering their participation and enjoyment.
  5. Collaborating effectively with nursing staff, supervisors, and therapists to report and promptly address any changes or issues, maintaining a seamless and supportive care environment.

Qualifications:

The qualifications for Recreation Therapy Workers:

  • Grade 12
  • Completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

* For "Recreation Therapy Worker | Bus Driver positions", a Class 4 Driver's License is required.
