The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is seeking an experienced Supervisor, Recreation Therapy to lead therapeutic recreation services in Yellowknife LTC and Stanton Territorial Hospital. This leadership role focuses on improving quality of life and well-being through innovative programs and volunteer development.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy with five years of clinical experience and may have supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy (required).
  • Five+ years of clinical experience (required).
  • Previous supervisory experience would be an asset (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations and clinical practices of Recreation Therapy staff.
  • Lead recruitment, orientation, performance management, and staff development.
  • Monitor service quality and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain recreation therapy standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Design, implement, and oversee a comprehensive volunteer program for Long Term Care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support patient-centered care.
  • Provide direct recreation therapy services during staffing shortages or leaves.
  • Support culturally safe care and explore opportunities to integrate Indigenous wellness initiatives into programming.
