Job summary

Sault Area Hospital invites applications for a Recreation Therapy Assistant – Complex Care 2C, temporary part-time, to support an interdisciplinary team in designing and delivering activity programs for diverse patient populations within Rehab and Complex Continuing Care.

You will work under the direction of Activity Therapists, contribute to program evaluation, maintain documentation, and participate in development and quality care aligned with SAH standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Recreation and Leisure studies or related field is required.
• Current BCLS certification is required.
• Experience with recreational programming is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Be an active member of the interdisciplinary team and participate in family meetings as needed.
• Provide activity programs under the direction of the Activity Therapists.
• Assist in planning, development, delivery and evaluation of activities for rehab and complex care populations.
• Collaborate with Activity Therapists to enhance programming and identify improvements.
• Comply with OH&S, infection control, and organizational standards.

Recreation Therapy Assistant – Complex Care 2C – Temporary Part Time

• Recreation Therapy Assistant – Complex Care 2C – Temporary Part Time

Duties:

• Be an active member of the interdisciplinary team. Attend family meetings as necessary to provide information and input into individual client and group programs.
• Provide activity programs and services under the direction of the full time Activity Therapist(s)
• Assist in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of appropriate activities for the various patient populations within the Rehab and Complex Continuing Care Programs.
• Collaborate and communicate with the Activity Therapists on all levels of programming and identify any opportunities for improvement.
• Compliance with legislative, organizational and departmental regulations, standards and procedures related to Occupational Health and Safety and Infection Control.
• Record and input statistical data into the Infomed System and Communicate with MDS office.
• Meet with new admissions to advise them of the programs and services offered. Refer to the monthly activity calendar.
• Responsible for personal development and skill building.
• Responsible to maintain current status with all unit communication, education and information.
• Engage in the annual self-evaluation and performance development process.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in Recreation and Leisure studies or related field.
• Current BCLS certification.

Experience:

• Experience in recreational programming
