Job summary

KANNAMPUZHA HOLDINGS LTD. in Ontario seeks a Recreation Aide to support planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents in a nursing home or long-term care setting.

Reporting to the Recreation Director, you will assist in evaluating progress, maintaining communication with residents and families, and participating in ongoing education. Evening/weekend work and VPS screening completed within 6 months are required.

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation or Leisure Studies or related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in Recreation in long-term care or nursing home setting.
• Proficiency in Point Click Care.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Energetic and compassionate with elderly.
• Current VPS within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement meaningful programs for residents in conjunction with the Recreation Director.
• Evaluate and document residents' progress to meet changing physical, mental and social needs.
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, volunteers and staff.
• Attend in-services for ongoing education on resident recreation and care.
• Participate in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interests in mind.
• Prepare, carry out and evaluate daily activities.
• Assist with meal services as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Work evenings and weekends.

• Evaluating and documenting the progress of the residents to meet their changing physical, mental and social needs
• Maintains effective communication with residents, families, volunteers, and staff of other departments, keeping them informed of current and upcoming events.
• Attends in-services for continuing education on the comfort, care, needs and recreational activities for the residents
• Participates in team meetings to plan programs with residents' interest in mind.
• Preparing, carrying out and evaluating daily activities.
• Assisting with meal services as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Working evenings and weekends
