RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reporting to the Manager, Weinberg Residence, the Program Coordinator develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates residents' cultural and recreation programs and activities, including wellness programs, creative arts, entertainment, cultural events, cognitive programs, and other leisure activities. Identifies and develops the goals and objectives of the programs and activities. Regularly communicates ongoing activities with the interdisciplinary team.
  2. Creates and develops Weinberg’s Assisted Living and Multi-Level Care monthly calendars of events, activities, and programs.
  3. Develops Weinberg’s monthly newsletter relating to calendars, events, activities, and programs.
  4. Develops and leads programs supporting residents around the celebration of the Sabbath and Jewish holidays. Coordinates and facilitates visits from synagogues, service leaders, external agencies, etc. Ensures activities recognize residents' heritage needs and wishes.
  5. Ensures safety of residents during all programs and activities; reports adverse events or near misses immediately.
  6. Provides leadership and oversees organized resident discussion groups, lectures, and meetings. Supports contractors with setup and equipment needs. Completes and circulates meeting minutes and agendas.
  7. Identifies volunteer needs to support programs and liaises with volunteers, providing support during activities.
  8. Meets regularly with the Manager to review program development and receive support and guidance.
  9. Collaborates with other recreational team members and liaises with external organizations for resources.
  10. Monitors program expenditures, contributes to the budget, and manages inventory of equipment and materials.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from a recognized recreation program plus at least 1 year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a long-term care setting. Understanding of aging/gerontology-based programming is an asset.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, InTouchLink, Canva, and Point Click Care.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective time management.
  • Organizational skills and ability to supervise volunteers.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and perform physical duties required by the role.
  • An understanding of Jewish culture is an asset.

JOB TYPE : Regular Full-time

Location : Weinberg Residence

Hours of Work :

  • Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 9 am to 5 pm
  • Wednesday: 10 am to 6 pm

Salary : Grid 27, $31.89 hourly
