Job Description

The Manager of Recreation and Community Relations is a full-time, permanent position within the Town of Slave Lake. Reporting to the Director of Community Services and liaising with all other Town departments, this role ensures a coordinated effort in delivering a broad range of services, programs, and events. The position manages the Legacy Centre, acts as the primary contact for its tenants and event stakeholders, and maintains community partnerships.

The successful candidate will lead and inspire a team responsible for developing and delivering recreational and community programs and events, overseeing the management of the Multi Recreation Centre (MRC) complex and related municipal services across various town facilities. Responsibilities include managing staff, developing budgets, coordinating programs and events, fostering community partnerships, and providing reports to senior management and Town Council.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the MRC complex and oversee related municipal services.
  • Adjust work plans and strategies in response to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director and stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage, oversee, review, staff, plan, and coordinate recreation, sports, cultural, and community programs and events.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community partners and organizations.
  • Oversee promotional materials and coordinate operations and scheduling of programs and events.
  • Develop and monitor operating and capital budgets.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to the recreation team, including recruiting, coaching, and performance management.
  • Assist with policy development and procedure implementation.

Salary: $44.06 - $55.53 per hour

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time, on-site
