As the Recreation Manager, you will be responsible for providing recreation activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs of our residents.
Responsibilities
- Engage residents through conversation to identify recreation wants, needs,, and abilities.
- Assess and research to develop recreation plans.
- Implement and coordinate programs, including transportation.
- Support recreation team and volunteers in delivering programs.
- Measure and evaluate program success, redesign as needed.
- Coordinate church services, entertainment, and special events.
- Purchase recreation supplies within the budget.
- Coordinate transportation schedules and drivers’ schedules for offsite activities, using company vehicles as needed.
- Plan yearly special events and lead decorating efforts.
- Prepare monthly recreation reports.
- Write and publish newsletters and calendars of events, gathering resident feedback.
- Provide training for recreation staff and volunteers.
- Oversee maintenance of recreation equipment and report concerns.
- Develop and implement a volunteer appreciation program.
- Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in a residential care setting preferred.
- Completion of Therapeutic Recreation Degree.
- Registered with the provincial Therapeutic Recreation association (ATRA) in good standing is mandatory.
- Valid provincial Class 4 driver’s license is an asset.
- CPR and First Aid certification are assets.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with residents, peers, visitors, and operational partners.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple resident requests.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and solve problems effectively.
