The Recreation Assistant is a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Recreation Assistant, your typical day will include:

  • Participating in developing and revising departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  • Setting up activity areas and assisting in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
  • Monitoring residents' interests, needs, and progress.
  • Maintaining program and resident records according to departmental policies, and regularly reporting participation and feedback to the Team Leader.
  • Promoting social interaction among residents by leading activities or events, assisting new residents with orientation, and encouraging socialization within the residence.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Must haves :

  • Diploma or Certificate in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent.
  • Experience working with seniors, including understanding motivation concepts.
  • Knowledge of leisure principles.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class F or provincial equivalent, if required to drive a bus).
  • Successful completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia), as applicable.
