Job Summary

Cultural and Heritage Programs is responsible for multidisciplinary arts centres, heritage and museum facilities, public programming, volunteer development, audience engagement, exhibits, and research.

You will ensure theatre policies and procedures are enforced, health and safety standards maintained, and customer service excellence promoted. Responsibilities include managing the bar, coat check, souvenir revenues, inventory, and cash deposits. You will monitor and train front-of-house staff and provide emergency First Aid/CPR as needed.

Education and Experience
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • At least 1 year of supervisory experience with public interaction
  • Hospitality experience, preferably in a theatre or entertainment venue
Certifications and Licences
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, AED certificates
  • AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
  • Smart Serve certificate from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO)
Knowledge
  • City of Ottawa Policies and Procedures
  • Awareness of public safety/security
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong public relations, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or in a team
  • Experience in staff and volunteer training and supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and flexible
