Overview

The Village of Winston Park located in Kitchener, Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Part Time Recreation Team Member to join their Long Term Care team.

Part Time Shift Details: Availability is required on alternate Monday's (10am-6pm), Saturday's (8am-4pm), Sunday's (8am-4pm), Thursday's (10am-6pm) - 30 hrs biweekly.

Responsibilities
  • As a new Recreation Team Member, you will support and embrace our resident-centered social culture and deliver the highest quality of recreational programming to residents. You will work as key members of our Village and neighbourhood multidisciplinary teams to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents to actively participate in decisions about their care.
  • Foster exemplary relationships with residents, their families and the Village team to deliver holistic care that focuses on flexible living and quality of life.
  • Assist residents by planning and implementing programs that contribute to a resident’s holistic health care goals, as outlined in Care Plans (including RAI MDS-Raps, Coding and Activities Initial Assessment), encouraging physical, emotional, spiritual, social and cognitive growth for residents.
Qualifications
  • Be enrolled in/completed diploma or degree in recreation/leisure studies and/or gerontology from a community college or university.
  • Be excited by our objectives, our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village.
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward residents, families, and team members.
Assets
  • Knowledge of the five domains in Therapeutic Recreation that contribute to an individual’s health.
  • Knowledge of recreational therapy practices, methods, techniques and opportunities to improve residents’ well-being and holistic health.
  • An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007.
