The Recreation Aide is a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Recreation Aide, your typical day will include:

  1. Participating in developing and revising departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  2. Setting up activity areas and assisting in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
  3. Monitoring residents' interests, needs, and progress.
  4. Maintaining program and resident records according to departmental policies, and regularly reporting participation and feedback to the Team Leader.
  5. Promoting social interaction among residents by leading assigned activities or events, assisting new residents with orientation, and encouraging socialization.
  6. Performing other duties as assigned.
Must Haves:
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology, or related fields from an accredited institution, or equivalent work experience with seniors.
  • Experience working with seniors, including understanding motivation concepts.
  • Understanding of leisure principles.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class F or provincial equivalent if driving a bus).

All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia).
