General Information:

Job title: Recreation Services Aide

Location: Fair View View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center - Mauston, WI

Schedule: Part-time 1, 48 hours per pay period; some 8:30-4:30 and 12:30-8:30pm shifts.
Weekend and Holiday rotation required.

Position Summary:

The Recreation Aide position reports to the Recreation Service Coordinator and makes sure residents are engaging in activities that meet their needs, be it physically, mentally, socially, or spiritually. This is an important role that requires compassion, attention to detail, and a curiosity about the industry.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Interact with residents on a daily basis to give residents a better quality of life.
  2. Make sure residents are engaging in activities that meet their needs.
  3. Provide one-on-one care to residents.
  4. Set up and implement activities on daily and monthly activity calendar.
  5. Lead activities and follow care plans to ensure residents are attending the activities that are important to them; show/give instructions for various activities.
  6. Provide 1:1 sensory stimulation to dementia patients.
  7. Record and chart residents' activities for documentation.
  8. Plan food orders to match activities.
  9. Manage/redirect residents experiencing behavioral issues.
  10. Maintain and clean work areas and equipment.
  11. Plan/prepare for upcoming events, visitations, and/or organized group meetings.
  12. Perform other duties as requested.

Position Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Current CNA certification preferred.
  3. 1+ years of related work experience preferred.
  4. Experience working in a medical facility preferred. Experience with dementia a plus.
  5. Exceptional communication skills required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  1. Intermediate proficiency with computers is required.
  2. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
