Job description

Mariposa Gardens is located in Osoyoos, British Columbia. Osoyoos is Desert Wine Country's Sweet Spot, with the charm of a beach town surrounded by the only living desert in Canada. This position offers a unique opportunity to live in a city with small-town charm and big-city amenities.

Wage Leveling rate of pay: $29.83 per hour until wage leveling ends; thereafter, the pay rate will reflect collective agreement rates.

Position: Full-Time Permanent, Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Recreation Aide plays a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Recreation Aide, your typical day will include:

  1. Participating in developing and revising departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  2. Setting up activity areas and assisting in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
  3. Monitoring residents' interests, needs, and progress.
  4. Maintaining program and resident records according to departmental policies, and regularly reporting participation and feedback to the Team Leader.
  5. Promoting social interaction among residents by leading activities or special events, assisting new residents with orientation, and fostering social connections.
  6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Must Haves:

  • First Aid certification
  • Diploma or Certificate in recreation/leisure studies or equivalent
  • Experience working with seniors, including understanding motivation concepts for seniors
  • Understanding of leisure principles
  • Computer proficiency
  • Valid driver’s license (Class F or provincial equivalent if required to drive a bus)
  • Successful completion of the prescribed Criminal Records Check (applicable to British Columbia applicants)
