Extendicare is hiring a Recreation Aide (Casual) in Canada. Reporting to the Recreation Manager, you will assist in planning and delivering meaningful programs for residents, maintain records, and help with meals as needed. A college diploma in recreation/gerontology and experience with seniors are required.

A valid driver’s license and a Vulnerable Sector Check are also needed. You will work part-time, with some weekend availability; Extendicare emphasizes compassionate care and a team-oriented

Qualifications

• College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology or equivalent.
• Experience working with seniors.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Energetic and compassionate attitude with the elderly.
• Valid provincial driver’s license (Class 4; Class F).
• Vulnerable Sector Check or willingness to obtain one.

Responsabilités

• Assist in planning, organizing and implementing meaningful programs for residents in collaboration with the Recreation Manager and Executive Director.
• Maintain department records including assessments and evaluations of programs and participant involvement; charting where required.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers and staff across departments about events.
• Attend in-service education to stay informed on best practices in elder care.
• Participate in team meetings to plan resident-centered activities.
• Facilitate residents' scheduled outings and outings pre-arranged.
• Assist with assessment of individual resident activity levels and daily activities.
• Assist with meal services as required.
• Uphold Extendicare’s Code of Conduct and commitments to ethics and integrity.
