The Opportunity

The Recreation Aide assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates residents' recreation therapy. Duties are assigned based on education, skills, AgeCare policies, and the Collaborative Care Model.

What You Will Do

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing meaningful programs for residents in collaboration with the Recreation Manager & Executive Director;
  • Maintain department records, including assessments, evaluations, participation, and charting;
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, volunteers, and staff, keeping them informed of events;
  • Attend in-service education to stay current on elderly care trends;
  • Participate in team meetings to plan resident-centered programs;
  • Facilitate residents' scheduled outings;
  • Assist with assessing individual activity levels;
  • Prepare, execute, and evaluate daily activities;
  • Assist with meal services as needed;
  • Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults;
  • Uphold the organization's values and ethics as outlined in the Code of Conduct;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need

  • College diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology, or equivalent;
  • Experience working with seniors;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • An energetic, compassionate individual who enjoys working with the elderly;
  • Valid provincial driver's license (Class 4 or F) to transport residents;
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or willingness to obtain one.
