The Recreation Aide plays a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Recreation Aide, your typical day will involve:

  1. Participating in developing and revising departmental procedures and programs under the guidance of the Team Leader.
  2. Setting up activity areas and assisting in transporting residents to and from programs, if required.
  3. Monitoring residents' interests, needs, and progress.
  4. Maintaining program and resident records according to departmental policies and reporting participation and feedback to the Team Leader.
  5. Promoting social interaction among residents by leading activities or events, assisting new residents with orientation, and encouraging socialization.
  6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Must Haves:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology, or related fields from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience with seniors.
  • Experience working with seniors, including understanding motivation concepts.
  • Understanding of leisure principles.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class F or equivalent, if driving a bus).

All applicants must pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario) or Criminal Records Check (British Columbia).

Wage Rate: $29.83 per hour until wage leveling ends, then aligned with collective agreement pay rates.
