This is an exciting opportunity for a Recreation Aide in the Adult Inpatient Program at The Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are large contributors to success in this position. The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team to support addiction and mental health patients and assist in planning and implementation of recreational and leisure activities. Reporting to the Unit Manager and working in consultation with Recreation Therapists and Therapy Assistants, you will coordinate on and off Unit and community programs and other activities. Description:
As a Recreation Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, speech language, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of a Health Care Aide Certificate or equivalent. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support-Health Care Provider (BCLS-HLP) Level C required. At least 1 Year of experience working in a Mental Health and/or Addictions setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Class 4 Drivers License preferred. Non-violent Crisis Intervention. Skills in a variety of recreational activities are desirable.
