Job description

Internet service providers may also use other standard web-based technologies to analyze your movements while accessing the Website. These technologies help the Extendicare Group ascertain the effectiveness of product and service campaigns and marketing programs, allow the Extendicare Group to customize the services offered on or through the Websites, and help determine the best use for website content, and product and service offerings. Some of this information, including the IP address, may be stored on the Extendicare Group’s Internet service provider’s server logs for extended periods of time.

- Participates in the planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluation of recreational programs based on the needs, interests, and abilities of residents following assessments.

- Maintains appropriate records of planned programs and attendance related to individual residents, including cleaning checklists and communication documents.

- Actively encourages residents to attend programs by assisting them to events and coordinating with volunteers as needed.

- Assists residents with activities of daily living, which may include after-meal cleaning, transporting, and preparation for outings.

- Plans and implements therapeutic exercise programs in consultation and collaboration with the rehab team.

- Accompanies and supervises residents on outings such as museums, picnics, and botanic gardens.

- Sets up and cleans areas where programs are held, including decorating to suit the occasion and involving residents as much as possible.

- Responsible for training, supervising, and evaluating volunteers and Recreation students in the home.

- Performs all duties in accordance with Extendicare’s policies, procedures, and standards, including safety, sanitation, and infection control.

- Respects residents’ rights to dignity and privacy, performing duties courteously and respectfully.

- Adheres to the “Standards of Employee Conduct,” “Commitment to Residents,” “Bill of Rights,” and “Extendicare Quality Care Standards,” along with the Mission, Vision, and Values of Extendicare.

- Works cooperatively with staff and residents, maintaining good relationships with other departments.

- Participates in committees, meetings, and educational in-services as required.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Enrolled in a Therapeutic Recreation Diploma program or possess a related post-secondary certificate.

- Prior experience with MDS coding and care planning is desirable.

- Knowledge and/or experience working with the geriatric population.

- Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English.

- Demonstrates independence, initiative, resourcefulness, creativity, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.

- Effective communication skills with staff, residents, families, and volunteers.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and complete tasks timely.

- Physically and mentally capable of performing duties and maintaining regular attendance.

- Computer and technology literacy as required.

- Completion of all required education by Extendicare.
