Position: Recreation Aide, Part Time

Southbridge is currently seeking a caring, passionate, and enthusiastic Activity Aide to join our team. In this role, you will serve our residents by keeping them safe, healthy, and happy. Your daily tasks will include bringing joy and fun to residents through various activities, making a positive impact on their day every day.

The incumbent will report to the Resident Program Manager.

Responsibilities

1. Plan, implement, and evaluate both individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Supervisor.
2. Set up and clean activity areas as necessary, transport residents to and from programs, monitor residents' behavior and condition during activities, and report any significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff.
3. Maintain program and resident records according to department policy. Communicate residents' participation to registered staff.
4. Collaborate with other departments to meet resident needs.

Qualifications

1. Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or related field from a community college or university, or current enrollment in such a program. If enrolled, must complete the program within 3 years of hire.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent documentation abilities.
3. Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating individual and group programs for both healthy and cognitively impaired residents.
4. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
5. Ability to develop and assess new ideas, resident programs, and volunteer initiatives.
6. Knowledge or experience working with the geriatric population, especially those with cognitive impairments.
