Job Description

The CH146 Griffon Records Technician works with Bell Textron Canada Limited (BTCL) and the Department of National Defence (DND) staff to review and update Component Data Records (CDRs) for the CH146 Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) Records Control Office (RCO). Records are updated in accordance with Bell OWSS and DND priorities, level of effort required, and available administrative resources.

This position is entirely on-site at BTCL’s Canadian Supply Centre beside the Calgary International Airport. The incumbent will split time between PC workstations and moving around the receiving line in a busy, clean, and organized warehouse environment.

This role is focused on entry to intermediate-level applicants interested in building a career in defence records management with future advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist receiving inspectors in reviewing, verifying, and correcting inaccuracies in Automated Data for Aerospace Maintenance (ADAM) CDRs and DND documentation upon receipt of a CH146 component.
  2. Review, verify, and collaborate with unit staff to ensure aircraft Component Data Records (CDRs) flowing through BTCL Calgary are accurate and comply with Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) regulations and policies.
  3. Assist in statistical reporting of incorrect CDRs received from CH146 units or contracted vendors, following quality system policies.
  4. Prepare scheduled reports for review by the OWSS technical management team.
  5. Support communication with units, vendors, contracting staff, and others by assisting CH146 Weapons System Manager (WSM) Detachment Calgary, BTCL Repair & Overhaul Analysts, and BTCL Life Cycle Material Specialists.
  6. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives of RCO processes and procedures, including developing On Job Training (OJT) packages, participating in audits, and updating work instructions.
  7. Support Griffon Limited Life Extension (GLLE) work package transcription.
  8. Assist DND-employed Aircraft Maintenance Control and Records Control Officers (AMCROs), including training civilian and unit AMCRO staff if needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma / GED; college technical diploma or university degree preferred (any major).
  • Fluent in English, with comfort in technical jargon.
  • Experience working with aircraft is preferred; experience in administrative roles, logistics, or warehousing is an asset.

Additional Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Knowledge of DND’s ADAM system.
  • Familiarity with industry/military quality standards such as AF9000+, AS9100, ISO9001.
  • Experience within an RCAF maintenance organization (Level A).
  • Knowledge of Transport Canada and/or DND TAA regulatory requirements.
  • Bilingual in French and English.

Occasional travel (up to 2-3 weeks per year) may be required, including visits to the National Capital Region, CH146 squadrons, BTCL facilities, and training sites.

Security Clearance

Applicants must undergo security screening by the Controlled Goods Directorate of Public Services and Procurement Canada and BTCL security officials. Due to clearance requirements, applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Employment depends on maintaining an active security clearance.
