Position Overview
Sunnybrook Foundation is seeking a skilled Recognition Officer. A proactive and motivated professional, the Officer will support the Philanthropy and Stewardship team to implement recognition to acknowledge, engage and retain donors. This role focuses on enhancing donor satisfaction, fostering long-term relationships, and ensuring donors feel valued for their contributions. The ideal candidate will appreciate the complexity of the hospital environment, create mutually beneficial partnerships, and be skilled at collaboration across the Foundation and Hospital. As a collaborative, adaptable, and contributing member of the Stewardship team, the Recognition Officer will subscribe to our ‘one vision, one goal’ philosophy.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Management of all donor recognition within approved Naming Valuation Guidelines, including creation of recognition proposals, installation and coordination with Hospital partners and vendors.
- Track and monitor quotes and invoices to ensure accuracy and collaborate with finance team to process payments efficiently
- Support the development of donor stories for recognition, in partnership with Relationship Manager
- Evaluate best practices and metrics for donor recognition
- In partnership with the Manager, Engagement Strategy & Recognition, support elements related to recognition events including, unveiling, videos, gifts and pictures.
- Update all donor walls (seven), ensuring accuracy through regular integrity checks and maintenance of Name for Recognition with the donor database (CRM). Recognition Officer 2025
- Digital donor recognition display management, including maintenance and updating of content.
- Management and review of acknowledgement letters accompanying tax receipts, to ensure accuracy
- Annual audit of damaged signage and action to resolve.
- Lead the management of GiftMap, our naming and recognition inventory platform and Raiser’s Edge coding related to recognition
- Support Senior Manager, Stewardship with materials for board committee meetings as it relates to new naming opportunities for approval.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as required to meet operational needs
- Special projects, as assigned.
Qualifications And Competencies
Below are qualifications and competencies we believe the successful candidate will need for this role:
- Post-secondary education in Non-Profit Management, Fundraising or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in a fundraising organization with an established major gifts stewardship and recognition program.
- Understanding of fundraising principles, donor motivations, and stewardship principles. Experience creating and managing recognition programs or stewardship initiatives.
- Creative mindset and a passion for enhancing the donor experience.
- Passion for inspiring philanthropic support with and exceptional donor experience in a hospital foundation or similarly complex environment.
- Strong project management skills with high regard for accuracy and attention to detail.
- Work comfortably in a highly collaborative team environment; manage competing interests and multiple requests from different stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate potential risks and/or conflicts and take appropriate actions, to organize and prioritize work.
- A person of integrity; committed to upholding professional ethics and encouraging philanthropic best practices.
- Proficiency in donor database management systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge), Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is considered an asset, with an ability to learn new software quickly.
- CFRE and/or CMP designations considered an asset.
Total Rewards Package
The hiring range for this position is $65,000 – 73,000. The salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s years of experience, qualifications and competencies that are relevant to this position. In addition to salary, our competitive compensation package also includes, comprehensive health and dental benefits, HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), hybrid work environment with a minimum of two (2) days in office, 2 float days each fiscal year and additional Sunny Days (long weekend closures in advance of summer long weekends and Christmas Eve).
