A leading company in the coal industry is seeking an Environmental Reclamation Specialist to oversee reclamation projects, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The role involves coordinating teams, conducting surveys, and developing technical reports. Candidates should have a relevant degree, experience in the field, and strong communication skills. This position offers a dynamic work environment, with responsibilities split between office and outdoor settings.
This position is primarily responsible for planning, implementation, and monitoring of environmental reclamation projects. Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations (EPEA) and helping to restore affected areas within our mine site.
Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the successful candidate will coordinate with the environmental team and be accountable for assisting the project team, contractors, consultants, casual labor, students, and related on-site logistics.
A minimum of three to eight years of experience. Mining experience is considered an asset. A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered. Thorough understanding of Alberta reclamation and remediation guidelines and regulations.

The incumbent works at the CST Coal Mine Site facility and will be required to traverse by motorized vehicle, ATV, or on foot, CST Coal’s leases as a regular part of the job. The shift schedule is a 5-day-on/2-day-off rotation (40 hours). Overtime and standby or call-outs may be required due to the nature of the work.
The work environment is 50% office and 50% outdoors, with exposure to fire, smoke, fumes, odors, or chemicals associated with laboratory analysis and rough terrain. Travel outside the work area may be required for conferences, courses, or meetings.
As a condition of employment, pre- and post-employment drug and alcohol testing is required as per the Drug and Alcohol Policy. Personal protective equipment includes an approved hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, CSA-approved respiratory protection, protective clothing, and gloves.
