The Receptionist / MOA is at the forefront of the Grande Prairie Primary Care Network (PCN), meeting and greeting patients, families, couriers, and visitors, and answering phone calls. The Receptionist / MOA provides general administrative and clerical support and support related to electronic medical record processes. This is a casual position.

What you will do...

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support
  • Answer, screen, and direct telephone calls
  • Deal with queries from the public and visitors
  • Direct patients and visitors to correct destination
  • Monitor staff and visitor access and maintain security awareness
  • Check, receive and communicate messages including voicemail, email, and faxes
  • Receive and sort mail and deliveries
  • Support the completion of patient forms as required
  • Set up and maintain records management systems including classifying and coding electronic files
  • Organize and file documents to be viewed by practitioners
  • Maintain referral processing, appointment scheduling and other processes within the electronic medical records (EMR) software
  • Operate office equipment such as printers and document scanners
  • Prepare correspondence and documents
  • Control inventory relevant to reception area
  • Tidy and maintain the reception area
  • Assist with collecting and compiling evaluation data
  • Assist in the collection of labs and specimens

What you need to succeed...

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and office equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to use electronic correspondence / forms
  • Ability to efficiently use electronic medical record software
  • Ability to function cooperatively in a team setting
  • Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability to establish a professional rapport with and instill confidence in patients
  • Ability to follow directions closely and accurately
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Medical Office Assistant certificate preferred but not essential
  • All candidates will be required to undergo a security clearance check
