Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences in Welland, Ontario, is looking for a friendly Receptionist/Concierge to welcome residents, families and guests, answer calls, and support day-to-day office operations.

You will handle clerical tasks, assist with billing and deposits, maintain records, and help keep the residence safe, comfortable and welcoming for our aging residents and their visitors. Strong communication and empathy are essential.

Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • Experience in receptionist, clerical, or bookkeeping role.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel; office systems knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
  • Comfort interacting with seniors, families, and visitors with warmth.

Responsibilities

  • Greet residents, families and visitors with warmth.

The Opportunity

Are you a welcoming, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a supportive environment? As a Receptionist/Concierge at Chartwell, you will be the friendly face of our residence and a key part of the day-to-day operations. You’ll manage a variety of clerical and accounting tasks, interact warmly with residents and visitors, and contribute to a safe, comfortable, and engaging atmosphere.

What You’ll Do
  • Welcome residents, families, and visitors, and respond to inquiries with care
  • Answer phones, route messages, and manage incoming and outgoing mail
  • Maintain accurate records, files, and office documentation
  • Assist with billing, accounts payable/receivable, and daily bank deposits
  • Support the team in keeping the residence safe, secure, and well-organized
  • Ensure health, safety, and confidentiality policies are always followed.
What You’ll Bring
  • Secondary school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in a receptionist, clerical, or bookkeeping role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; working knowledge of office systems
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
  • Comfort interacting with seniors, families, and visitors with warmth and empathy
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and in a team
