Position Overview:

Receiving Associates work as part of a team to unload merchandise from carriers, check the quantity and quality of merchandise, and enter information about incoming merchandise into the store's system using provided tools (e.g., First Phone). All Receiving Associates must be licensed to operate powered lift equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, reach truck, forklift) used during unloading and moving freight. Success in this role requires a high level of commitment, attention to detail, and the ability to learn and follow procedures. Freight Team associates may also be tasked with order picking using the Order Fulfillment Application. Associates should be proficient in using store systems to identify product, vendor information, and store layout to deliver efficient, high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Receiving Merchandise:
    • Understand carrier unload processes for efficient freight management.
    • Follow receiving standards meticulously.
    • Maintain the receiving area by removing pallets and cardboard, using compactors and bailers, and clearing space for new merchandise.
    • Unload merchandise using designated equipment.
    • Handle all inbound freight, including BOSS and special orders.
    • Identify and verify vendor packing slips, shipping documents, UPC labels, and compare with purchase orders for accuracy.
    • Schedule deliveries and input pre-post information into the system.
    • Count freight cartons and RGR merchandise to satisfy freight bills.
    • Identify damaged merchandise and take appropriate actions.
  2. Handling Merchandise:
    • Stock merchandise to achieve 100% in-stock levels.
    • Use safety procedures when organizing merchandise.
    • Merchandise new items as directed.
    • Build end caps and promotions.
    • Dispose of trash and maintain safe, organized overheads.
    • Communicate with team members to ensure proper stocking and inventory levels.
  3. Customer Service:
    • Demonstrate GET behaviors consistently.
    • Greet customers and engage with open-ended questions to assess needs.
Additional Requirements:

Attention to detail, integrity, effective communication, and safety orientation are essential competencies. Skills include shipping and receiving, truck uploading, and merchandise stocking. The role reports to the Department Supervisor of Receiving. Physical requirements involve lifting, reaching, climbing ladders, and working in a warehouse environment. The position involves working in dusty, noisy, and sometimes slippery conditions. A high school diploma and at least 1 year of receiving experience are required; forklift experience is considered an asset. The pay range is $19.45 - $21.20.
