Job description

City Experiences is seeking a Receiver for our City Cruises operation in Toronto.

*Please note this is a seasonal/contract position.*

About the Opportunity:

The Receiver will ensure all deliveries are accurately labeled, stocked and accessible for the Food & Beverage Team. The successful candidate will have a passion for organization and a high attention to detail. Successful communication between vendors and the team will be a key aspect to ensuring all guests have an amazing experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide amazing hospitality to coworkers and guests as prescribed in our RESPECT Service System.
  • Receive all Food and Beverage items, including but not limited to dry goods & sundries, perishable food items, linens, liquor/beer/wine/non-alcoholic beverages, smallwares, glassware; ensuring that the products received match the corresponding invoice and reporting any discrepancies and/or damages.
  • Ensure the proper handling and administration of invoices and documents.
  • Receive, store, and organize food and supplies using proper food handling techniques including stock rotation for products that are sensitive to date codes and monitoring temperatures of perishable products.
  • Update inventory records and participate in inventory audits.
  • Assist in cleaning and organizing of hospitality vessel holds and land-based storage areas.
  • Assist with food deliveries to all vessels, as needed. Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time.
  • Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager on duty.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.
  • Previous receiving experience preferred.
  • Smart Serve Certificate considered an asset.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate required.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential.
  • Ability to deal with shifting priorities.
  • Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to guests and coworkers.
  • Must possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others.
  • Will work for extended periods of time without sitting.
  • Required to lift furniture and other heavy items up and down stairs.
  • Will be required to be available for work on all weekends and major holidays.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 60 lbs (27 kgs).
  • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection).
